The Dún an Óir II has returned to service since Saturday last, 23 April and she looks splendid in her new colours. As this was the first annual survey and there were various works to be completed under a very tight deadline all those involved made a truly enormous effort to have the works completed on time and this was especially so on Friday where rain during the morning interrupted the planned schedule. It was not only ‘all hands on deck’ but heartfelt thanks to the various ‘volunteers’ who turned up to lend a welcome hand in the hour of need. Go raibh mile maith agaibh go léir for your Trojan efforts. On another note the Cailin Óir left us on Sunday on her long trip to Clare Island. Co Mayo where she shall operate for the coming Summer. She will be replaced by the Dún Aengus as the official relief ferry which will remain in Baltimore throughout. Many of us will miss the Cailín Óir and look forward to her safe return at the end of the season and hope that her new passengers and crew will like her as much as we have. You will find on the facebook site http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=197734933601977#!/profile.php?id=100001860508520 a last picture taken of the Cailín Óir as she stated her long journey North and we are glad to report that she has arrived safe and sound.
