Andy Warhols 15 moments of fame have certainly come true for one popular couple on Cape Clear Island, Micheál and Sile Ó Ceadagáin who recently featured in their very own program on TV4, Mí na Meala. Micheal is also the winner of many prestigious and well deserved awards including the ICOS Award for Cooperative Endeavour and more recently the couple are featured in the recently published and excellent book Wogans Ireland based on the recent TV series. Cape Clear Island and its Coláistre Samhraidh is also featured in this delightful publication, which is well written and laced with Terry’s legendary self-deprecating wit. The photographs too are stunning, including those of Cléire and The Fastnet to where Terry enjoyed an idyllic summer’s outing with Micheál on his boat ‘The Gaisceannán’. Micheál and Sheila are a hospitable couple which extends to the boat and Micheals famous teas served at sea have pleased many, including the indefatigable Terry. Apart from Cape Clear the hardback book features many parts of Ireland including Valentia and the Aran Islands with a marked emphasis on the ‘coastal fringe’ and can presently be obtained for as little as €10 online.
