Island residents and visitors are reminded that there is a new standard procedure for dealing with emergency ambulance requests from the offshore islands. Any emergency request should be made through the standard 112/999 Emergency Call Answering Service and to ask for the ambulance service. The person making the call should provide the following details to expedite the activation of the required service
- Location of Incident ( state relevant island)
- Call back telephone number
- Directions to site
- Number of patients
-Patients condition if known
- Patient conscious/ breathing
- Patient's age
- General weather conditions
Its important to stay on the phone until directed to hang up by the Ambulance Control. Ambulance Control will then, with the information provided organize the most appropriate transportation for the patient.
