Saturday 8 March 2104 saw members of Cape Clear Tree Group assemble at Roches Garden for the annual tree planting meitheal. As usual there was a good turnout of young and old which saw over 150 trees planted on a suitable, fertile and south facing slope adjacent to the main body of trees. Unlike previous years where mattocks and picks were needed planting was relatively straightforward with some of the younger children managing to do it all themselves. Apart from this effort, transition year students of Middleton College are planting 75 trees in another location and Aodh ÓDrisceoil , as part of the Gaise award in another 100 trees. Further plantings will take place over the coming weeks. Photo shows some of the group at work.
