Cailín Óir welcomes todays announcement by Noel Harrington, T.D. that €1.3m has been allocated to repairing some of the storm damage in North Harbour. There is certainly lots to be done,to repair the undermining of the inner section of Duffy's Pier, the reinstatement of a more effective sea wall running from the Pier to the Club, the possible construction of a second inner protective wall and the reinstatement of the roadway, the reinstatement of Seán Rua's Pier and protective works in the Club area and more besides. Given the works already commenced on the harbour developments one hopes that these remedial works will be undertaken as part of an overriding vision for a harbor that will eventually be non tidal and fit for purpose for many years to come.
