New Micro Brewery to be launched in Baltimore
THREE childhood friends , Kevin Waugh, Henry Thornill and Dominick Casey are launching two new beers in Baltimore.
As a result, the newly formed company, the West Cork Brewing Company, will be hosting a very special launch night in Casey’s of Baltimore hotel for its two new beers.
This exciting new craft brewery is located in the basement at Casey’s.
Having witnessed the explosion of microbreweries around Ireland in the last few years, Kevin Waugh said ‘We felt there was an opening in the market for a quality beer product to be produced in the heart of West Cork.
‘West Cork has long been associated with the best in quality artisan food, both locally and nationally, so why not add a quality artisan craft beer to stand alongside its food cousins?’
The promotors are determined to use only the most pure natural ingredients, but it was also important to them that the quality of the main ingredient – water – would be good too, so they decided to use the natural spring water that supplies Casey’s Hotel.
The new nano-brewery is capable of producing 200 litres per batch.
‘It is a departure from other Irish beers that use mains water,’ according to Kevin, who is looking forward to seeing a big turnout for the launch of their two new beers – ‘Sherkin Lass’, which is a refreshing citrusy, hoppy pale ale, and ‘Roaring Ruby’, a dark ruby ale, with hints of caramel and chocolate in its flavouring.
The launch will take place at 8pm on Saturday, December 13. As well as being able to enjoy samples of the new beers, delicious finger food will be served, and there will even be music by the talented trad band, G’wan. All at Cailín Óir wish the venture every success and hopes that sample of the product makes to Cape Clear Island very soon.
