2015 Tree Planting on Cape Clear Island
Last Saturday saw a smaller than usual group assemble for the annual tree planting on a day of glorious sunshine. This was understandable given the exodus from the Island over the weekend for various festivities. Nevertheless an indefatigable group comprising of Steve and Debbie Stone, Chuck and Nell Kruger and Séámus Ó Drisceoil made short shift of planting almost 90 trees. The location chosen was spectacularly beautiful between well-established clumps planted in previous years and comprised of alder, sally, willow, sycamore and birch. Some 30 trees have already been planted by Middleton College and others and Ferdia plans to plant another 20 or so. With a further 20+ trees to be planted in pots later in the spring this will bring the total planting for this year to over 160 trees. Photos shows group members relaxing after completing their task another which shows both the fabulous views and the spectacular sunny day and finally one of Ferdia about to plant his trees.
