On Monday 22 June, Conor Nelligan, Heritage Office with Cork County Council visited the Island in the company of Heritage Centre Director, Éamon Lankford to visit the Heritage Centre on the Island and to familiarize himself with the collection in the Centre, the ongoing work of transferring and managing the Cape Clear Archives, the challenges of maintaining an ambitious program of heritage activities on a shoestring and to consider the future of the Centre and its collections and ongoing works. Plans are underway to entrust the collection to a trust to be set up in perpetuity for the benefit of the Island Community in cooperation with Cork County Council. Following a visit to the Centre Conor and Éamon attended a meeting with some various members of the Community and discussions took place regarding a proposal to develop a heritage plan for the Island with the assistance of the Council.
