Annual O Driscoll Clan Visit to Cape Clear Island
The annual O Driscoll clan visit takes place this coming Saturday 27 June departing Baltimore at 10.30am. on the Dún an Óir 11 which shall for the first time fly a specially commissioned O Driscoll flag. On arrival the party will make their way to the Island Heritage Centre where they, amongst other things, will take part in a remembrance ceremony for departed loved ones. Island based O’Driscoll’s are also encouraged to attend. Following events in the Heritage Centre the visitors will head for Cottors where from 2pm onwards there will be open air music. At about 2.30pm some of the younger performers from the Island are expected to entertain the crowd. We thank Bernadette O Driscoll of Baltimore for kind permission to show this photo of then Chieftain, John O Driscoll of Sherkin Island taken back in 1987. We show Séamus & Skipper Fachtna Ó Drisceoil displaying the new flag in front of the Dún an Óir 11. For more information on the O’Driscolls see the official website at www.ODriscoll.ie/
