We are very glad to hear that the Group of young people who visited the Island last week as part of the European Youth Exchange ( Léargas) from Israel, Palestine, Switzerland, Belfast & Mahon Cork the latter who were hosting the exchange under the leadership of Youth Worker Viv Sad, Mahon CDP seem to have greatly enjoyed their visit. The theme of the Exchange was- "Challenging Borders & Boundaries - Building Bridges") and much effort was expended building a dry stone wall in the Glen area courtesy of Fiona Mac Lachlain and directed by Finbarr Hennessy. The Group also enjoyed kayaking with Cléire Lasmuigh, fishing on the Gaisceannán and were guests as a special evening of music and dance in Club Cléire where the Island’s musicians, singers and dancers of all ages did their bit with their usual aplomb. On this special occasion we were fortunate to be joined by husband and wife Philip and Pam, accomplished musicians on the harp, dulcimer and tin whistle with great benefit to the proceedings. Some of the group also performed with singing in Arabic and the first ever performance of a song composed by a young participant from Mahon.
