Today as we removed the planning notice for the distillery from the pier we thought readers might like to remind themselves of the most expensive notice in Cape Clear Island history. This cost a staggering €2,438.75 in resubmission fees after Cork County Council Planners ruled that it was vital for the planning application to proceed. The notice reads "Comharchumann Chléire Teo intends to apply for permission for development at this site, Cnocán na mBáirneach, Cape Clear, Skibbereen, Co Cork." Cnocán na mBáireadh is 2 miles away by road from this site.
