St Ciaráns Day Celebrations beckon
This year St Ciaráns Day, 5th March falls on a Saturday and the Island is in for a special treat with the first official exhibition of the 60+ plaster casts made by many Island residents in the course of the recent Community Arts Project supported by Cork County Council Arts Office, Comhar na nOileán and Comharchumann Chléire Teo. Before that, at 3pm or thereabouts Fr Quelly will celebrate the annual blessing of the boats and will lead community prayer at St Ciaráns Grotto. Afterwards the Club will be the venue for our first ever Community Arts exhibition from 3.30 pm where of course the Island musicians both young and old will provide music and song, joined by artists Jacqueline, Eileen and Angie. Light refreshments will be provided and community members are also invited to bring along whatever offerings they can to the community table. Following a social afternoon Mass will be celebrated in the Island Church by Fr Quelly at 7pm. Bí linn ar Lá le Ciarán.
