We attach a photo taken this morning of the newly built section of the pier as it is approached from the eastern side of the harbor. The photo does not do justice to the elegant appearance of the structure and readers should take note of the newly reconstructed steps which are now wider and at two levels. The lower level correspondence with the previous pier height and is the area previously favored by swimmers for jumping into the water during the Summer. So, quite fortuitously, the height of the popular jumping area remains unchanged and we hope that swimmers and jumpers young and old will continue to use this area for many years to come.
The second photo show word in progress to repair the damage caused to the old sea wall recently. It is becoming evident that works on this phase of the project, at least are drawing to a close and hopefully full access to the pier may be restored in the near future.
