Great fun was has by all who took part in the first ever St Patricks Day Parade on Cape Clear Island. There were seventy humans, four dogs, a goat and a sheep all led by Grand Marshalls Chuck and Nell Kruger that braved wind and light rain to parade from South to North Harbours. Not to be outdone by larger events, we mustered a band of 12 tin whistles, Steve with his ‘ugly stick’, an assortment of bodhráns and drums and all the flags on the Island. The parade was halted three times for well researched side events which included sean nós dancing, singing, twirling batons, banishing the snakes and The Walls of Limerick. Afterwards the happy throng retired to Club Cléire for an afternoon of convivial music and chat. We thank the chief organizers Stella and Caoimhe for this wonderful event and for a fun filled day. Cléire abú.
