We like this photo of unlocked bicycles on Cape Clear Island safely awaiting their owners return. It brings to mind a story of the mid 1940’s when my father left his sturdy black, WW11 Raleigh unlocked at the GPO in Dublin and forgot all about it. It was a whole week before he returned to the same spot and he found his bike exactly where he left it. Whatever about the rest of Ireland, it is good that some things have not changed on Cape Clear and that bicycle locks are still not required.
