Explorers of Cape Clear Island will find this memorial to the late Fr. Cashman, Parish Priest of Rath and the Islands in the Priest's garden in South Harbour, Cape Clear. Thanks to local residents the roadside hedging has been cut back so that it can again been seen from the roadway. The memorial is in the shape of a lectern, made from local stone with the cross, made of Cornish sandstone, originally used in the Cape Clear Lighthouse and the inscription is tastefully done by a local artist/potter. What is there to know about Fr.Cashman ?. Well, he was someone who was true to his priestly vows, who poured oil on troubled water when required, who was helpful and kind as best he could and who is well deserving of this modest tribute from the Island Community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.
